The LOVE collection

I would like to share some thoughts with you on the topic of engagement and marriage as I have designed some new amazing pieces for the LOVE collection.

It is a common perception that an engagement ring has to be a diamond ring, to which I strongly disagree. Getting engaged is such a monumental occasion and an engagement ring should be visible and bold and therefore stand out as a statement piece.

The reason why so many prefer a diamond in the engagement ring is partly down to tradition and exclusivity, while probably also because the diamond is the hardest of all mineral stones and in principle everlasting. But there are other gemstones that are very close to diamonds in terms of hardness and several of these are truly and arguably more magnificent in their presence and colour.

The industry standard for measuring the hardness of gemstones is Mohs Harness Scale. The scale goes from 1 – 10, where the diamond is the hardest and is rated as 10. What is interesting is that the stones in category 8 and 9 are also extremely hard and therefore just as suitable as the diamond to use in an everlasting ring. These stones are; topaz, emerald, ruby and sapphire.

I for instance love the topaz, this natural gemstone is so beautiful and comes in a variety of stunning colors. Topaz is less expensive than diamonds, although with the right color and cut it can be just as flawless and maybe even more sparkling and vibrant than a good quality diamond.

Couples generally have a budget when buying an engagement ring and it’s natural that most women want to show the whole world their new sparkling piece. Now, here comes the question. Wouldn’t you rather have a truly eye-catching ring, something that really stands out from other engagement rings?

I really love the newest addition to the LOVE collection, a 6,7ct flawless white topaz surrounded by 24 diamonds, 1ct in total. It is so incredibly elegant but at the same time a real showstopper because of the size of the centre stone.

And another thing, an engagement ring doesn’t have to be white, why not choose a pink ring Or a ring with a deep red stone - the color of love

On your wedding day it is time for a new ring. Here I think you should choose a ring that goes well with all your other pieces of jewellery. You might not want to wear your engagement ring every day after the wedding, my experience is that my clients have other pieces they also would like to wear often, like thin rings they want to stack and cocktail rings for parties – so make sure to choose a wedding ring that goes well with all the other jewellery you have.

My personal favorites are the Olivia rings, they come in three different sizes, petit Olivia (my bestseller), Olivia and chunky Olivia.

The petit Olivia rings are the best rings for stacking, and you can choose between yellow, rose and white gold. I really like that the diamonds go all the way around the ring, its important to sparkle every day! And did you know? Plain gold is a softer material than diamonds, so a plain gold ring will actually get more scratches than a ring with diamonds all around.

Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue… A last investment for your wedding day could be something blue – like a pair of blue earrings, or a blue petit Olivia ring (perfect for stacking with other rings). Your blue addition to the wedding day could also be an amazing present to pass on to someone you love later in life, like your daughter on her wedding day, a daughter in law, a grandchild or a Godchild.

And let’s not forget… new love, and to be brave enough to love again another time around. I have made this heart shaped red garnet ring with diamonds to symbolize just that… you can have your heart broken, but heal, and be courageous enough to give it to someone again.
