With the Ballerina collection – The weight of light, Libelula Jewellery presents its first high jewellery collection: two singular creations, a ring and a bracelet, each conceived as a future heirloom.
Crafted in 18k gold and set with G VVS diamonds, every detail has been considered with the same intention that guides all of Libelula's work: to create everlasting jewellery.
I have always been fascinated by ballet and especially the ballerinas. When a ballerina stands almost still on stage, whilst everything around her is moving, she becomes very close to resembling a statue. I have been thinking about that stillness.
Everything on stage looks so easy, yet it’s very hard.
What jewellery and a ballerina share most intimately is a relationship of effort. The ballerina’s technique exists so that you don’t see it. The jeweller’s technique exists so you don’t see the metal. Both are arts of the disappeared hand.
A performance vanishes as it ends: a jewel outlasts everyone who touches it. But they reach for the same thing from opposite directions. A moment of light.
Inspired by the tutu, this ring captures the stillness of a dancer while everything around her moves. Soft tiers of diamonds rise around the centre stone like layers of tulle caught mid-turn. Every detail is crafted so the hand behind it disappears, leaving only grace.
The ring is a 0,70ct G VVS diamond held in a setting of 14 round G VVS diamonds and 26 G VVS tapper diamonds a total of 2,27ct inspired by the delicate structure of the tutu skirt.
