Workout and Wellness
A question I often get in my DMs on Instagram is about how I work out, what I eat, and which vitamins and supplements I take. I’m by no means an expert, but since I love reading articles like this myself, I thought I’d share what I do to feel my best.
HYDRATION
Every evening, I prepare everything I need for the next day. I wash one piece of ginger and one lemon and place them on a cutting board. I fill up the kettle and put out the honey and olive oil. This is for the lemon and ginger drink I make every day.
The first thing I do in the morning is put a slice of lemon into a cup and pour hot water over it. While it cools down, I make my lemon and ginger drink.
LEMON & GINGER DRINK
· 1 lemon, unpeeled but thoroughly washed (often minus the slice I use in my hot water)
· 2 cm of fresh ginger
· 1 tablespoon of honey
· 1 tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil
· 6 ice cubes
· Approximately 5 dl of cold water
I blend everything until smooth and then strain it. My strainer is from IKEA and it’s incredibly handy. I then pour the lemon drink into a bottle and drink it throughout the day to stay hydrated.
I also take my hot lemon water with me to the bathroom and have a shower. I shower every morning, even if I’m going to the gym later. It helps me wake up, and I feel fresh and put together afterwards.
In addition to the lemon and ginger drink, I make a large bottle of water every morning. My goal is to finish one bottle before lunch and another one during the afternoon.
NUTRITION
I believe you can eat almost anything as long as it’s in moderation and, whenever possible, homemade. I don’t eat processed food, and I don’t want my family to eat it either.
I bake bread every other night. It really only takes about five minutes to make the dough, and then you simply let it rest overnight. The recipe is in my new cookbook, and it’s incredibly simple.
I also eat a lot of mixed berries and make sure to include protein in every meal. I don’t snack between meals. I eat three meals a day: breakfast at around 7:30, lunch at 12:00, and dinner at 5:00.
I eat plenty at each of these meals, which keeps me full and energized throughout the day.
VITAMINS
I take a daily supplement containing vitamin D, omega-3, vitamin A (for the skin), iron, zinc, and K2.
WORKOUTS
A few years ago, I completely changed my workout routine. I used to work out two to three times a week, doing really hard sessions with a personal trainer. But I often felt exhausted throughout the rest of the week as a result.
In the summer of 2024, I was in Vietnam for two weeks with my children, and I decided to take a calmer and more holistic approach to exercise. I started using Melissa Wood Health, doing shorter sessions that weren’t too intense but were very consistent. Now I do her programs every week, all week. This means I work out every day, but only for 15–30 minutes.
Her programs are new every Monday, so I always feel excited and inspired to see what’s coming. If I have time, I do the workouts at the gym, and if my schedule is tight, I do them at home. For me, this approach has made exercise something I genuinely look forward to, rather than something that leaves me completely exhausted.
